For those who had a chance to play Daytona USA in the arcades, this game will likely look very familiar.  In fact much of the early level graphics and music appear to have been lifted directly from that game.  There are very few sports games that are created by independent developers, making the few that do come out, such as Victory Road, must try-out material for sport fans.  Victory Road will immediately gain further interest with its price tag...the game is entirely free.  However, the 30+ MB download will likely scare more than a few people away from giving it a run.

Still this is a fun trip down memory lane even if it might be as much a testament to how far graphics have come since the mid 90s.  The music is fantastic, as was the case with Daytona USA, though I ran into some distortion of sound on my computer. While you won't be able to play with your friends in the arcade, an online high score list has been added so you can show off your skills to the world.  With plenty of cars and tracks to unlock, Victory Road is a very good amateur effort that is a good game to waste an afternoon on.
