The 2004 GameTunnel Indie Game of the Year and 2005 IGF Game of the Year is headed to mobile devices it seems.

There isn't much known about the game at present, though there is a great video at: http://www.gishmobile.com/

From the video it looks like the level design for the mobile game VERY closely follows its PC counterpart, though the short press release for the game mentions "a brand new single player campaign and several multiplayer modes via bluetooth including death match and co-op." Notably the video states it may not be how the game looks in its final state, and I would guess that to be very true.

Gish Mobile is being developed by indie developers Hardwire and Erphenic Studios, Cryptic Sea doesn't appear to be very involved (though on the Gish Mobile website it does mention them: "Original Concept, Characters, Design Cryptic Sea").

The game is being built on "a complex J2ME physics engine." If it is anywhere near as good as the original, it's a Mobile project worth watching out for.

Hello!

It's Global Top 10. Week 19 (111). Results:

1 Build-a-lot 2 (HipSoft)
2 The Hidden Object Show (Gogii Games)
3 Pet Shop Hop (PlayFirst)
4 Dream Day First Home (Oberon)
5 Rainbow Web 2 (Sugar Games)
6 Dream Chronicles 2 (PlayFirst)
7 Monopoly by Parker Brothers (TikGames)
8 Bejeweled 2 (PopCap)
9 Westward 2 (Sandlot Games)
10 The Rise of Atlantis (Terminal Studio)

Build-a-lot 2 saved its leadership and still is number one, followed by one more promising prospect: The Hidden Object Show. Pet Shop Hop by PlayFirst is cool too, entered Top 10 from the 3rd. Noticable movements: Rainbow Web +5 (5th) and Westward 2 -7 (9th).

Genre Top:

1 Hidden Object (3 games)
2 Match 3 (3 games)
3 Time Management (2 games)
4 Card and Board (1 game)
5 Strategy (1 game)

Wow, for the first time in history Time Management isn't on 1st or 2nd, believe it or not, Match 3 is the second popular genre of the week 19.

Casual Games Space becomes more and more interesting...

To be continued...

P.S. You can find full version of the Global Top 10 as well as archives here at Logler Games.

Protöthea was a finalist at the 2005 IGF. It's been long enough that most people have probably forgotten it, but there it was next to Alien Hommind and Gish. While the developers of those other games have gone on to new projects, Protöthea is still working on its initial release.

I have to admit that I was shocked to hear that the game was coming out on WiiWare...under the direction of Ubisoft and using the GarageGames Torque engine for Wii no less. We even have a quote about that!

"With Torque for Wii we were able to transfer our experience with a solid and reliable engine we already worked with to a totally new platform with ease, " said Xavier Amado, Lead Programmer on Protöthea. "Torque's engine features and toolset really sped up our development and allowed us to focus on and tune Protöthea's gameplay."

So Torque for Wii equals good...I guess.

The game I called reminiscent of Dragon Spirit in the way it approached enemies on the ground and in the air. The biggest difference was the move any direction ability that was complimented by the ability to fire any direction. The movement of the ship was focused on the crosshair on the screen, which honestly makes the ship control feel very different than your typical vertical or horizontal scrolling shooter. It was surprising how much fun the game was as watching other people play or videos really didn't give you any sense of how it felt to play yourself.

We'll have to see how it all transferred to Wii when the game comes out on WiiWare on May 12th...

If you want to see some more in the short term, IGN has some info and a video of the game.

Doesn't seem like there is much to say beyond the title.

Let's see...Everyday Shooter won a bunch of awards at the IGF, then became a hit on the PS3 through PSN. Now you can play it on your PC through Steam. It's just $10...and 10% off during the first week, so if you hurry it's only $9.

So...there isn't much more but to go direct to the page and get the thing.
